Woodhaven 8505 Mortise Bit

REQUIRED FOR FRAMES WITH 1/2" STOPS: The 8505 is necessary when mounting a hinge jig on a door frame that already has a 1/2" thick stop attached, the longer cut length clears the stop for a full-depth mortise.
CARBIDE-TIPPED FOR LONG LIFE: Carbide tip maintains a sharp edge through extended use on hardwood, softwood, and MDF frames and jambs.
3/4" CUT LENGTH FOR STOP-EQUIPPED FRAMES: The extended 3/4" cut length (vs 1/4" on the 8500) ensures the bit reaches full mortise depth when the jig is positioned against a stop-equipped jamb.
USE 8500 FOR STANDARD INSTALLATION: If your door frame does not have a 1/2" thick stop attached, use the Woodhaven 8500 instead, the shorter cut length is the correct choice for standard installation.
MADE IN THE USA: 1/4" shank, 5/8" bearing, 2-1/4" overall length, compatible with standard 1/4" router collets.

The 8505 Mortising Bit is necessary if using the Woodhaven Hinge Jigs on jambs with stops in place. Use our bearing guided mortise bit for cutting the mortise on our hinge jigs. The bit is carbide tipped, has a 1/2" cutting diameter and a 1/4" shank. It leaves 1/4" radiused corners, which you'll need to square up with a chisel.
