Lixie screw in style replaceable urethane faces are utilized for all Lixie Dead Blow mallets. Lixie replacement urethane faces are impervious to oils and most solvents, have high impact absorption, and will not mar, peen or deform the struck surface. Polyurethane striking faces wear and performance characteristics are significantly superior to other commonly used materials such as lead, rawhide, rubber, thermoplastic, etc.
