The set includes Ultra Coarse (50) and Extra Coarse (80) Diamond Stones (2 each) mounted on handles.
These stones are fast and aggressive, perfect for re-profiling and repairing your damaged blades quickly, speeding the work you would do with the 100 grit diamonds in the basic sharpener kit on your first sharpening of a knife - namely reprofiling and flattening your bevels to set the cutting edge.
We use them primarily to fix broken blades and to repair blades with a significant amount damage - any circumstance where you are going to want to remove a significant amount of metal quickly.
They are particularly useful with super hard steels.
