Warlord Games Bolt Action: USMC War Dogs Team

• The USMC introduced war-dog platoons in 1943 for the Bougainville operation in November. War-dog platoons went on to support the USMC throughout WWII.
• The majority of the dogs used were Doberman Pinschers and the remainder German Shepherds, trained as either scouts or messengers.
• Scout dogs alerted their handlers to the presence of enemy positions – often alerting troops to the presence of enemy machine gun nests or sniper positions before they came under fire.
• Other dogs were trained to carry messages between Marine units. More effective than runners, they took the same risks - often coming under fire or even suffering wounds in the course of duty.
• Models supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paint, and other supplies are sold separately.
