100% Authentic Belgian pearl sugar imported from the town of Tienen in Belgium. Tienen is known as the center of sugar production in Belgium, it is located in the province of Flemish Brabant, in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium. The pearl sugar is made from locally grown beet sugar. Belgian Pearl Sugar is used to make the popular Liege style Belgian waffles. Added to the dough, this sugar caramelizes throughout the waffle due to its high melting point, creating crunchy pockets of sweetness. This effect is the secret that gives the Liege waffles its unique flavor and essence.
