Twining is one of the earliest methods of basket making. It involves twisting one material over another. Twining styles, materials and decorative motifs vary by region. The open-twined gathering basket was used for gathering small plant materials and is common in many cultures. The kit comes packed in a plastic bag that can be used to store materials while you make your basket.
