Common/Sarasa/Shubunkin Mix The common goldfish, also commonly known as a comet or pond comet, are one of the most well known varieties of goldfish. They have orange metallic scales with a long, slender body and a straight tail. There are two common tail variations. Common goldfish have short, blunt tails, while comets have a distinct "V" shape to their tail allowing their tail to be very long and flowing. They range in size from 1.5" to as large as 14". Sarasa Comets, also known as Sarasa Commons, are a member of the goldfish family. They have a crisp white background with solid red markings, a slender body and a straight tail fin. There are two common tail variations. Some Sarasa Commons have short, blunt tails, while Sarasa Comets have a distinct "V" shape to their tail allowing their tail to be very long and flowing. We have both varieties, but find the "V" shaped Sarasa Comet to be the most common. The Sarasa Comet range in size from 1.5" to as large as 14". Shubunkins base color is either blue or orange with red, black, white, orange, or blue metallic scales, though Shubunkins have slender bodies and straight tail fins. All fish growth rates are based on food, space, water quality and surrounding environment. They do well in aquariums and ponds.
