Reasons for Writing This Book Perhaps, it is well to state my reasons for writing this book on the Soul, a work which has. required that I stop studying the physical sciences while writing. At the age of twenty years, I read a book on Oriental philosophy. It told of the vast systems of A sia, Egypt, Greece and Rome; and this in outline. Next I studied books on each system separately.
