The Gift: Our Journey Through Liver Failure And Liver Transplant

Our life and death struggle with liver cirrhosis, also known as Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis or NASH. Life seemed to hover just out of his reach and death always seemed to be looming. We hoped he would live long enough to get added to the organ transplant list. A donor liver would be lifesaving. He wouldn't survive long without one. It made us sad knowing he could only live if someone else died. It seemed to take forever to get a referral to a transplant hospital, largely because he was gravely ill. Even so, would he live long enough to get on the organ transplant list and receive a transplant? Time was not our friend.
