In 1985 I began to explore parallels between the modern genetic code and ancient Chinese I Ching, and in 1990-91, I lived in China and studied the I Ching with several scholars. The genetic code and I Ching seem very different. One is physical; the other is philosophical. One is new knowledge, the other is very old. DNA codes for organic matter that builds our bodies. But the I Ching claims to show the way of the Tao, universal mind.
