The colored center area is waterproof, with absorbency built in. The white side tabs are not waterproof, but rather a stretchy lycra/spandex that hug and conform to your body. This method ensures the trimmest fit. A pocket runs the length of the inside, making this adult cloth diaper able to hold even more absorbency. As much as needed in fact! Use the inside pocket to add additional absorbency from front to back, or just in front for men.
