The revised Student Activities Manual (SAM) provides oral and written activities that progress methodically from comprehension to expression. "Prononcez bien!" sections focus on a specific phonetic difficulty that students may encounter in each given chapter. The SAM now includes a section entitled "Francophones en direct," which offers recorded interviews representing a wide range of ages, ethnic, and social backgrounds, and presents various perspectives on the chapters' topics. Each of the oral segments is accompanied by exercises that facilitate more systematic development of listening comprehension skills. The written activities in the SAM offer practice on every point of structure in the unit and culminate in a suggested composition that features a process-oriented writing approach and incorporates web-based research. A realia-based writing activity completes this section. In addition, "A l'ecran!" sections provide activities based on the "court metrage" films of the video program.
