Renovo Trio - 3 Stage Water Filter & Purifier Straw - Hollow Fiber (UF) Membrane with Activated Carbon (Charcoal) Filter and Sediment Pre-Filter
Product Description
Renovo Trio - 3 Stage Water Filter & Purifier Straw - Hollow Fiber (UF) Membrane with Activated Carbon (Charcoal) Filter and Sediment Pre-Filter
- Unique 3 stage filtration removes bacteria (salmonella, e-coli, cholera), protozoa (giardia, cryptosporidium), metals (lead, mercury, cadmium), chemicals (oil, chlorine, pesticides)
- Industry leading ultra-filtration hollow fiber membrane filters down to 0.05 microns
- Highly versatile design works as a straw filter, screwed to the top of a bottle (generic soda or water bottle), or in-line with a hydration reservoir (CamelBak)
- Long filter life of 1,000 liters or more with the ability to change individual filter elements for indefinite use
- Lightweight and compact: 7 x 1.4 inches and 3.5 ounces
The Renovo Trio was designed to be used in the harshest environments to deliver clean drinkable water. Every aspect of the Trio is over-engineered and rigorously tested. The materials, technology, and even packaging have been designed to deliver superior performance when situations demand it.
The Trio utilizes a pre-filter, hollow fiber membrane, and an activated carbon filter. The result is a filtration rating of .05 microns that removes (99.99%) Bacteria (Salmonella, Cholera, E coli, etc.), Protozoa (Cryptosporidium, Giardia, etc.), Chemicals (Lead, Chlorine, Arsenic, etc.) and some Viruses without the use of nasty chemicals such as chlorine or iodine.
Stage 1: Pre-filter
The purpose of the pre-filter is to remove large particulates in the water. This enables the Trio to be used in turbid water sources. This filter element is rated at 5 microns. The Trio comes with 4 replacements of the pre-filter.
Stage 2: UF Hollow Fiber Membrane
The Ultra Filtration (UF) hollow fiber membrane is unique in a couple ways. First, it has a large surface area that enables a high flow rate. Second, the membrane has an incredibly small pore size of 0.05 microns, far smaller than most other filters. Unlike ceramic or other membrane filters, this UF filter can be cleaned by back-flushing and if properly taken care of, won't ever need replacing. This stage removes all the bacteria, protozoa, turbidity and some viruses.
Stage 3: Activated Carbon
The last filter element is a carbon impregnated fiber. To be effective, water must be in contact with the carbon which absorbs the contaminates. Many water filters use a granular carbon that can develop pathways or channels through the medium which reduces exposure. Using a carbon impregnated fiber.
