Push pins are manufactured to repel each other at the contact point but, have a strong attraction to metallic surfaces. The pins have a weak attraction at the sides.

Magnets will not attract to non-magnetic surfaces such as aluminum, wood, non-magnetic stainless (most refrigerators are magnetic stainless). If a regular magnet does not attract to the surface of the item, it’s safe to say these magnets won’t either.
