Pentair Pentek PCC-1 10" x 2.5" Polyphosphate Scale Control Water Filter
Product Description
Pentair Pentek PCC-1 10" x 2.5" Polyphosphate Scale Control Water Filter
- TRIPLE-ACTION WATER TREATMENT - Hexametaphosphate crystals dissolve slowly to control scale buildup, reduce corrosion in pipes, and sequester dissolved iron up to 1 ppm
- HELPS PROTECT COSTLY EQUIPMENT - Ideal for water heaters, ice machines, coffee and vending machines, and AC equipment where hard water causes scale deposits and damage
- FITS #10 STANDARD HOUSING ONLY - Designed exclusively for Pentek #10 Standard filter housings; not compatible with #10 Slim Line housings; confirm fit before ordering
- RELIABLE FLOW AND PERFORMANCE - Supports flow rates up to 5 GPM with an operating range of 40-100 degrees F and effective hardness treatment up to 15 grains per gallon
- EASY 6-MONTH REPLACEMENT - Simple drop-in cartridge swap with no tools required; replace every 6 months or when water pressure or quality noticeably decreases
This Pentek PCC-1 phosphate filter cartridge inhibits scale and rust buildup and prevents the precipitation of dissolved rust in residential and commercial applications. It is made of sodium calcium hexametaphosphate crystal media in a polypropylene shell with a polypropylene post-filter. The nitrile butadiene rubber (Buna-N) gaskets seal the cartridge against the housing (sold separately). The filter has a maximum flow rate of 5 gallons per minute (gpm), and operates over a temperature range of 40 to 100 degrees F (4.4 to 37.8 degrees C). This phosphate filter cartridge is used in various applications, including ice machines, food service equipment, and air conditioners, among others .

Water filters remove undesirable particles, chemicals, and microorganisms from water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, or biological processes. They are made of densely packed synthetic or natural fibers that trap suspended particles, materials that block microbes or adsorb unwanted chemicals, or substances that cause a chemical change, such as acid neutralization. For most residential, commercial, and industrial applications, water filters are manufactured in the form of replaceable cartridges that fit inside permanent housings. Filtration systems typically consist of a series of two or more types of filters, each designed to remove different contaminants. The performance of filters is measured by the minimum particle size that is blocked, the percentage of particles or microorganisms that are removed, the downstream concentration of unwanted chemicals, the maximum flow rate, and the amount of water that can be filtered before the filter must be replaced. Water filters are used in a wide range of applications, including drinking water purification, swimming pools, industrial processes, and irrigation, among others.
Pentair manufactures industrial, commercial, and residential water filtration components and systems. The company, founded in 1966 and headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards 9001 and 14001 for quality assurance.
