- Primarily used for aggressively reducing square spindle blanks to round, resulting in a rough cut blank ready for detailing with a spindle gouge, skew chisel, or other turning tool
- Do not use a roughing gouge for bowl turning
- Blade is made from M2 High Speed Steel
- Total tool length is 18-1/2" with a 7" blade and 11-1/2" handle
- Hardwood handle with brass ferrule
