Overcoming Addiction by the Spirit of Christ

Whether one is addicted to drugs, alcohol, pornography, or another besetting sin, the Scriptures reveal that in Christ we find the way of deliverance. The Israelites’ journey out of the bondage of Egypt, through the wilderness, and their warfare to take possession of the land of Canaan serve as a panoramic parable of man’s journey out from the slavery of sin to freedom over all the desires and passions of the flesh. Step by step, the Old Testament journey reveals God’s plan to set the captives free. The shadows and types of the Old Testament point to the substance of God’s deliverance from addiction through Christ.
