- COMPATIBLE WITH SURFTEST MODELS: Designed for use with Mitutoyo Surftest SJ-210 and SJ-301 surface roughness testers in machining, shop-floor inspection, histogram-based data management, statistical analysis, and QC environments.
- DIAMOND STYLUS FOR HIGH ACCURACY: Equipped with a precision diamond-tipped stylus with a controlled radius to ensure reliable, repeatable surface roughness detection across a wide range of materials.
- LOW, CONTROLLED MEASURING FORCE: Features a built-in skid force of 400 mN or less, with measuring forces of 4 mN (SJ-301) or 0.75 mN (SJ-210), protecting delicate surfaces while maintaining measurement integrity.
- STANDARD DETECTOR DESIGN: Offered as part of a family of detector types, including standard and deep-groove versions, with varying head sizes to match diverse surface-measurement applications.
- A LEGACY OF QUALITY: Our ultra-precise measurement solutions bring improved performance to countless industries, including aerospace, medical, automotive and energy. With more than 5,500 products the largest product portfolio of any commercial metrology provider we have the solutions you need to meet today's metrological challenges and customer expectations.
The Mitutoyo 178-390 detector is used with the Surftest SJ-210 and SJ-301 surface roughness testers, and has a diamond stylus tip, uses skid measurement detection, and comes in types such as standard or deep groove that have varying head sizes. The detector has diamond stylus tip material, and radius, for precision surface roughness detection. It uses skid measurement detection with skid force of 400mN, or less, and measuring forces such as 4mN (SJ-301), or 0.75mN (SJ-210). The detector connects with the Surftest drive unit for operation. A detector connects to a surface roughness tester, using a cable, to transport form measurement readings in metrology applications such as shop floor, machining, statistical processing, histogram-based data management, and quality control (QC).
Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The company was founded in Tokyo in 1934 and formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, IL.
