• 2- MATERIAL - These cup point socket set screws are made from high-strength carbon steel with a black oxide finish. Unlike stainless steel, this carbon steel base delivers robust tensile strength for secure load-bearing fastening, while the black oxide surface coating enhances wear resistance and provides moderate corrosion protection, rely on the oxide layer to shield against light moisture and surface scratches.
• 3- Work Environment - Carbon steel cup point set screws excel in dry indoor workshop settings where heavy rust exposure isn’t a primary concern, delivering consistent, reliable fastening performance in high-use environments. Their black oxide finish forms a protective layer that effectively resists basic wear and light oxidation, keeping the screws smooth to handle and fully functional for everyday general use.
• 4- Applications - Cup point socket set screws feature a headless, concave end design that sits flush with or recesses into component surfaces, requiring no countersunk hole. The cup point creates a tight, non-slip hold by pressing into mating parts. These screws are used in securing gears in industrial machinery, locking handles on tools, stabilizing pulley shafts, and fastening hardware fixtures where a low-profile, slip-resistant fastener with high tensile strength is needed.
