- KEIRYU DIFFERENCE - Unlike Tenkara, Keiryu is most often used with live bait (e.g. worm) and split shot. However, this rod is also very effective with flies (especially weighted flies) with a traditional Tenkara line.
- PERFECT PRESENTATION - When used with a worm and split shot, the Keiryu line exhibits a vertical "drop" into the water vs. "laying" on it. The result is virtually no drag and an irresistible presentation to trout.
- SPECS - Our T100 Keiryu rod is 17.7 ft. long and was designed for American waters. It is spec'd to an RFI (Rod Flex Index) value of 5.7 which translates into a well balanced medium action / stiffness rod.
- COMPLETE KIT - Our kit comes with set of Keiryu rigs from OWNER and our Kevlar dry fly line. Together, these lines cover virtually all fishing opportunities. Also included are 2 EVA foam spools.
WHAT IS KEIRYU? Keiryu is a traditional and highly popular Japanese style of fishing that uses a long telescopic pole, a line, and hook. While it is very similar to Tenkara, Keiryu uses a longer rod that is typically paired with a light line and live bait (e.g. worm). It can also be used with flies & nymphs. IS IT EFFECTIVE? YES. VERY. Keiryu style of fishing delivers a great presentation to the fish as a result of minimal to no drag on the line. Given that fish love live bait, the result is extraordinary. Keiryu is easy to learn and fun. OUR ROD The Keiryu T100 rod measures 5.4 meters (17.7ft.). It is a well balanced medium action and medium stiffness rod that can catch small to large trout in rivers, streams, and alpine lakes. Also very effective on bluegill and perch.
