- The City Goes Vertical: Urbania is a Kähler series of collectible ceramic tealight houses designed by Mette Bache and Barbara Bendix Becker. The High Building takes the modernist apartment tower as its reference: a straight-sided column that rises above the other houses in the range, with rectangular windows scattered irregularly across every face.
- Windows Scatter The Facade: The High Building is white glazed ceramic with a flat top and four straight sides. The rectangular cutout windows are hand-carved in a deliberately irregular arrangement, varying in both size and position across every face to suggest the randomness of a building where different apartments catch different light.
- A Narrow Towering Form: At 8.7 inches tall and just 3.0 inches wide, the High Building is notably taller and more slender than any other piece in the Urbania range, its proportions closer to a column than a house. The narrow footprint means it works on a window sill, a side table, or any surface with minimal room. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Candlelight Climbs The Tower: Set a tealight inside and the windows at the base light first, then those higher up join in as warmth spreads through the column. Because the High Building is nearly nine inches tall, the candlelight reaches further up than any other Urbania piece, casting light patches higher on the surrounding wall.
- The Tallest Urbania Gift: At nearly nine inches, the High Building is the tallest piece in the standard Urbania range, which makes it a natural choice for anyone who already collects smaller houses and is ready to add something with considerably more scale and presence. The Urbania Tea Light collection from Danish design icon, Kahler, comprises tea light holders handmade into the shapes of various urban buildings (in this case, the Apartment House). The candleholders are purchased individually, and may be combined into beautiful small cityscapes (see variations shown above). Each is handcrafted from Dolomite Ceramic. The deep white structures take their natural color from the clay that has simply been refined with a transparent glaze.
