Global Crafts Ukhisimusi Omuhle Zulu Christmas Candles, Pair of 9 in

• ZULU HOLIDAY GREETING: The design carries the words Ukhisimusi Omuhle, a Zulu greeting that means Merry Christmas, wrapped around the taper in banded pattern work. It marks the southern African Christmas, which falls in high summer, and brings a piece of that celebration to a northern winter table.
• SET OF TWO TAPERS: Two dinner tapers arrive gift packaged, each measuring 9 in tall and 0.75 in in diameter, a standard profile that seats in most ordinary candleholders and candelabra. Average burn time runs around 10 hours per candle, enough for several long dinners rather than a single evening.
• HAND POURED WAX: Fully refined paraffin wax is poured by hand around a natural wick, then finished with layered base coats, fine brushwork and subtle glitter accents. The photographs show the overall style; because the pattern is painted freehand, every set differs a little in line weight and in the placement of detail.
• UNSCENTED FOR THE TABLE: These are unscented, so nothing competes with the food or with flowers on the table, and they are intended for indoor use. Trim the wick before lighting, keep them away from extreme heat, and never leave a burning candle unattended. Striking on a mantel, a dining table or a holiday sideboard.
• SOUTH AFRICAN WORKSHOP: Artisans in South Africa pour, cure and paint each candle, drawing the motifs from local pattern traditions. Global Crafts is a member of the Fair Trade Federation, and the standards behind that membership, from honest wages to safe and healthy workspaces, are what turn this from a pretty object into a fair one.
