• THE CORNERSTONE OF THE DI ZHAO STUDENT LINE: The DZ-301 is the original flagship student flute from Di Zhao Flutes - a model built on the belief that beginning players deserve professional-quality craftsmanship from day one. With a fully silver-plated body and headjoint, closed-hole design, offset G keys, and C footjoint, the DZ-301 delivers everything a student needs to excel in school band and beyond.
• STERLING SILVER LIP PLATE & RISER FOR A RICHER, MORE RESPONSIVE SOUND: What sets the DZ-301 apart from other student flutes is its fully sterling silver lip plate and riser. While most instruments at this level use silver-plated headjoints throughout, the DZ-301's solid sterling silver contact points deliver a noticeably warmer tone, greater resonance, and more responsive blowing - giving students the sound and feel of a professional silver headjoint at a fraction of the cost.
• HAND-CUT HEADJOINT FOR PROFESSIONAL TONE: Every DZ-301 comes with Di Zhao's signature hand-cut headjoint, featuring precision undercuts and overcuts crafted by trained technicians. Unlike machine-cut headjoints found on typical student flutes, this hand-cut design produces a powerful, free-blowing, rich tone that makes it easier for beginners to play across all octaves with confidence and ease from their very first lesson.
• HAND-PADDED PISONI PADS WITH Y-ARMS FOR LASTING PERFORMANCE: The DZ-301 features fully hand-padded, partially-shimmed Pisoni pads - a professional-grade pad system that ensures an airtight seal, reliable key action, and a long-lasting, leak-resistant performance. Paired with precision Y-arms for enhanced key stability, this instrument is built to hold up through years of daily practice without constant trips to the repair shop.
• FOUNDED ON A TRADITION OF PROFESSIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP: Di Zhao Flutes was founded by world-renowned flutemaker Di Zhao, formerly of Verne Q. Powell and Wm. S. Haynes Flutes in Boston - two of America's most prestigious handmade flute workshops. His mission was clear: bring that same level of artistry and precision to students around the world. Every Di Zhao flute is built and plays like a professional handmade instrument, because every young musician deserves to start their journey with something truly exceptional.
