• THREE PIECES, A COMPLETE SERVICE - One carbon pre-filter, one carbon post filter and one reverse osmosis membrane. Every stage of a GXRM10RBL or GXRM10G in one box, replacing the FX12P pre and post filters and the FX12M membrane, so there is nothing left to order separately.
• UPGRADED TO A 50 GPD MEMBRANE - The FX12M this replaces is an 18 GPD membrane. Ours is 50 GPD, so it can produce nearly three times as much water a day. Fitted as is, it works and gives you a faster tank refill than the original.
• TO GET THE FULL 50 GPD, CHANGE THE FLOW RESTRICTOR - Your system still has the restrictor sized for an 18 GPD membrane, which limits what the new one can produce. Swapping it for a 50 GPD restrictor is a five minute job on the drain line and it is what unlocks the full rate. Leave it alone and the membrane still works, just not at its rated output.
• WHAT EACH STAGE DOES - The carbon pre-filter goes first and reduces chlorine, which matters because chlorine damages the membrane behind it. The membrane does the actual reverse osmosis and reduces total dissolved solids. The carbon post filter goes last, polishing the taste of water that has been sitting in the storage tank.
• CHANGE THE CARBON ON TIME AND THE MEMBRANE LASTS - Carbon filters change about every six months; a membrane normally runs two to three years. A spent carbon pre-filter passes chlorine straight to the membrane, so skipping it costs you the expensive part. This is a compatible replacement made by CFS, not an original manufacturer part.
