We all have something in common, we are fascinated by these tiny, cute, colorful and nicely patterned freshwater critters living in our aquaria that bring us joy.
Well, sometimes they bring sorrow and concern, if they don't reproduce or even die off. The shrimp hobby is still quite new, and there is a lot of uncharted territory when it comes to keeping and breeding these invertebrates.
During the last few years, I (Chris Lukhaup), have traveled the world to find out more about shrimps, I was able to have a look at their natural habitats, visit breeders almost everywhere, drop by at specialized shrimp shops and thus gather more knowledge.
I have come to the conclusion that there is more than just one way of keeping and breeding them successfully, and I am always fascinated when breeders start spilling their secrets.
Their knowledge and experience is important, especially as not much is known about this subject.
Thus I have decided to ask some of the best European breeders and keepers for interviews.
This magazine is the first one in a series we have called Breeders and Keepers, and we hope that you can take part in the experiences of others, make use of their knowledge, and enjoy your aquarium and your shrimps.

This first volume in a series of four, is with over 120 color photos and 130 pages, a wonderful treatise on those colorful critters.
