Use regular woodworking tools to cut and shape this material. This material is NOT dyed, and the streaks are natural white color. Also please note that any cut or sanded portions will temporarily appear gray-- just polish and buff these areas to return them to a beautiful, deep, glossy sheen.
Every set of scales WILL differ in pattern, texture, color and shape. Each is cut from naturally occurring horn/bone.

This is a beautiful pair of handle making scales for making a knife.

This is a set of naturally occurring buffalo horn. They will often have natural white streaks going throughout them which gives an exceptionally handsome look. They look very impressive and will make a gorgeous handle for your knife. We have these custom made for our store and you wont find these anywhere else.

You get 2 scales with each set.

Tips for working with this buffalo horn:

Use regular woodworking tools to cut and shape this material.

Please note that any cut or sanded portions will temporarily appear gray-- just polish and buff these areas to return them to a beautiful, deep, glossy sheen.
If thinning the scales is required, it is recommended that you sand the back-side of the scales (facing your blade's handle), to leave as much of the outside streaking of the buffalo horn as possible.
Sometimes the pieces may require sanding to become perfectly flat. A standard belt sander works well for this job.
The final step of buffing and polishing buffalo horn is a must, as it will darken and become glossy with a brilliant sheen.
