Assassin Snail Pack of 4 - Live Freshwater Aquarium Snail

Assassin Snail Pack of 4 - Live Freshwater Aquarium Snail

• ✅ The Assassin Snail (Clea helena), also known as the Snail-eating Snail, is a unique and fascinating freshwater snail species that is often kept in aquariums to help control populations of unwanted pest snails
• ✅ Appearance: Assassin Snails have a conical, elongated shell with yellowish-brown to dark brown or black bands. They have a distinctive, arrowhead-shaped aperture (the opening of the shell) which they use to extend their proboscis to capture prey
• ✅ Size: These snails are relatively small, with adult sizes ranging from 0.75 to 1 inch (2 to 2.5 centimeters)
• ✅ Habitat: Assassin Snails are native to Southeast Asia, particularly in regions with slow-moving or stagnant water. They are often found in muddy or silty substrates
• ✅ Diet: As their name suggests, Assassin Snails primarily feed on other snails. They are carnivorous and use a proboscis to pierce the shells of their prey and consume them. They are particularly effective at controlling populations of pest snails in aquariums, such as Malaysian Trumpet Snails and pond snails
• ✅ Tank Setup: Assassin Snails are relatively undemanding when it comes to tank setup. They prefer a well-established aquarium with a stable water environment. Provide hiding spots in the form of caves or plants and a sandy or soft substrate where they can burrow
• ✅ Compatibility: Assassin Snails are generally compatible with a wide range of peaceful fish and invertebrates. They are particularly useful in planted aquariums where pest snails might be an issue
• ✅ Reproduction: Assassin Snails are livebearers, which means they give birth to live young rather than laying eggs. They reproduce relatively slowly compared to some other snail species, which can be an advantage in maintaining their population at controlled levels in the aquarium
