Asplenium nidus 'Bird's Nest Fern'

Asplenium nidus - Bird's Nest Fern is part of the Aspleniaceae family and is native to southeast Asia. This interesting plant does not have typical fern fonds, but instead has solid tongue-shaped fronds that come up from a central rosette. Asplenium nidus - Bird's Nest Fern can grow large and reach up to 24"-36" high at maturity. It is tropical evergreen fern that prefers partial shade and constantly wet soil. Do not let dry out between watering. This fern enjoys being slightly root bound.

This fern is only recommended for larger vivariums due to it's size, and should be placed towards the back. It will appreciate the constantly moist soil and humidity that a vivarium provides. In an animal terrarium, just be sure to keep the soil evenly moist so that it doesn't dry out. Since it is so large growing, it will likely need to be trimmed back with age or removed entirely.
