The work focuses on the range of factors affecting policy, economic and monetary developments in each sub-period, paying attention to movements in the counterparts of the money stock, to the determinants of bank reserves and to private sector portfolio decisions. The book concludes with a lengthy statistical appendix, which sets out important new quarterly and monthly statistical series for the money stock and its counterparts.
