Product Description
Pentair Pentek P5 Sediment Water Filter, 10-Inch, Under Sink Spun-Bonded Polypropylene Replacement Cartridge, 10" x 2.5", 5 Micron
- REDUCES SEDIMENT DOWN TO 5 MICRONS - Filters dirt, sand, silt, scale, and rust particles from your water supply to help protect plumbing fixtures, appliances, and downstream filtration systems
- GRADIENT DENSITY DESIGN EXTENDS FILTER LIFE - True layered construction traps large particles on the outer surface and progressively finer particles toward the core, maximizing dirt-holding capacity
- 100% SPUN-BONDED POLYPROPYLENE CONSTRUCTION - Pure fiber media will not impart taste, odor, or color to your water and delivers superior chemical compatibility across a wide range of applications
- FITS STANDARD 10 INCH FILTER HOUSINGS - Drop-in replacement for any standard 10" x 2.5" housing with just 0.2 psi pressure drop at 5 gpm, so you maintain strong water flow throughout your home
- NSF/ANSI STANDARD 42 CERTIFIED - Independently tested and certified to meet material safety requirements, backed by the trusted Pentair Pentek brand with decades of water filtration expertise
This Pentek P5 spun polypropylene filter cartridge reduces sand, silt, scale, and rust particles in residential, commercial, and municipal drinking water. It has a nominal filtration rating of 5 microns at an efficiency of 85%. The filter is made of spun polypropylene fibers for resistance to chemicals and bacteria. It has an initial pressure drop of 0.2 pound per square inch (psi) at a flow rate of 5 gallons per minute (gpm), and operates over a temperature range of 40 to 145 degrees F (4.4 to 62.8 degrees C). This spun polypropylene filter cartridge meets National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) standard 42 for quality assurance, and is used for treatment of residential, commercial, and municipal drinking water.

Water filters remove undesirable particles, chemicals, and microorganisms from water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, or biological processes. They are made of densely packed synthetic or natural fibers that trap suspended particles, materials that block microbes or adsorb unwanted chemicals, or substances that cause a chemical change, such as acid neutralization. For most residential, commercial, and industrial applications, water filters are manufactured in the form of replaceable cartridges that fit inside permanent housings. Filtration systems typically consist of a series of two or more types of filters, each designed to remove different contaminants. The performance of filters is measured by the minimum particle size that is blocked, the percentage of particles or microorganisms that are removed, the downstream concentration of unwanted chemicals, the maximum flow rate, and the amount of water that can be filtered before the filter must be replaced. Water filters are used in a wide range of applications, including drinking water purification, swimming pools, industrial processes, and irrigation, among others.
Pentair manufactures industrial, commercial, and residential water filtration components and systems. The company, founded in 1966 and headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards 9001 and 14001 for quality assurance.
