Most direct vent units use the fine thread thermocouple, but some do use this course thread thermocouple. This is for a millivolt valve. Millivolt valves can be controlled by a switch, remote control, or thermostat. This is used by Mendota, and many other fireplace companies. Thermocouple is approximately 23 1/2" long.
