- 1080 HIGH CARBON STEEL – A proven simple carbon steel for knife making, bladesmithing, forging, stock removal and custom edged-tool projects.
- ANNEALED FOR WORKABILITY – Supplied annealed for easier cutting, drilling, grinding, shaping and forging before final heat treatment.
- 3/16" x 1-1/4" x 12" BAR – Includes one piece of 1080 steel measuring approximately .188" thick, 1.25" wide and 12" long.
- HOT ROLLED MILL FINISH – Supplied with the normal hot-rolled surface and sheared edges expected from raw knife-making steel. This material is not precision ground.
- FOR KNIVES & DAMASCUS – Suitable for forged and stock-removal blades and commonly paired with 15N20 for pattern-welded Damascus steel.
1080 is a moderately high carbon forging steel, in the annealed state. 0.88% carbon, 0.90% manganese, 0.05% sulphur, and 0.04% phosphorus. Layer with 15N20 to make Damascus style blades. Heat treating is recommended to harden your blade for regular use. 1080 is an oil quenching steel.
